These amazing trips in the Northwest Territories of Canada are offered in 5 or 10 day durations. The 5 day tours focus on the Nahanni and Mackenzie Rivers, while the epic 10 day tour includes a few days up north in Canada’s arctic to learn about the local Inuit culture and history on the shores of the Arctic Ocean. These are small group tours, offering an all-inclusive and personal experience.

Itinerary

5 day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Yellowknife. Your guides will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in downtown Yellowknife.  In the afternoon there will be a 2 hour guided sightseeing tour of the city. Enjoy dinner at a local bistro and then some free time in the evening to explore Yellowknife on your own.

Day 2: Check out of your hotel in the morning, meet your guides and begin your 300 km drive down the Mackenzie Highway to the town of Fort Providence.  Stop along the way at the North Arm Territorial Park for a short break and some beautiful scenery.

Arrive in Fort Providence in time for lunch and check into your hotel. In the afternoon you will visit Lady Evelyn Falls and the tiny Indigenous community of Kakisa.

Return to your hotel Fort Providence and next up is a boat ride on the Mackenzie River where you will enjoy a traditional dinner at a Cultural camp. Then back on the Mackenzie River for the boat ride back to Fort Providence and your hotel. Free time in the evening to explore the community of Fort Providence.

Day 3: After breakfast in Fort Providence, you begin the 250 km road trip to the tiny Indigenous community of Jean Marie River and enjoy a traditional lunch on the shores of the Mackenzie River.

Next up is a 65 km boat trip on the mighty Mackenzie to the town of Fort Simpson.  You arrive in Ft. Simpson late afternoon and check into your Bed & Breakfast. Dinner at a local restaurant in Fort Simpson and free time in the evening to explore the community.

Day 4: After breakfast, you are transferred to the terminal to start your flying adventure into the world-renowned Nahanni National Park.

The first stop is a 40-minute scenic flight to the famous Virginia Falls.  Here you will have a chance to connect with Mother Nature and experience amazing views of the falls while enjoying a bag lunch along the shores of the Nahanni River.

Back into the float plane and off to spectacular Glacier Lake and see the Cirque de Unclimbables.

Finally back into the plane and the last stop is Little Doctor Lake in the Mackenzie Mountains.

Then it is back to Fort Simpson for dinner at a local restaurant to talk about your amazing day. In the evening enjoy tea and talk with local Dene Elders as they share stories about their Indigenous culture.

Day 5: After breakfast in Fort Simpson, it is time to make your way back by vehicle to Yellowknife. Stop in Fort Providence for lunch and arrive back in Yellowknife around 4 pm. Check into your hotel and participate in a wrap-up dinner at a local Yellowknife restaurant. Free evening to enjoy Yellowknife.

Day 6: Check out of your hotel and depart.

Payment Details

BOOKING & CANCELLATION POLICY:

All bookings require a deposit of 15% per person in order to confirm your dates.  The balance is due at least 60 days before your trip departure date, when the deposit becomes non-refundable. Between 59 and 31 days prior to departure, there is a 75% refund of all funds.  30 days or less prior to the Package departure date, there is a 50% refund of all funds.
