Information

birds eye view of Louisbourg Fortress in canada

Start your tour with a convenient pick-up from your hotel in downtown Sydney. Settle in for a scenic drive through Cape Breton, taking in the coastal views on the way to the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site.

Once at the fortress, enjoy free time to explore one of the largest historical reconstructions in North America. Originally built by the French in the early 1700s, Louisbourg played a key role in the struggle between France and Britain for control of the continent. Today, the site brings history to life with costumed interpreters, reconstructed buildings, and stories from the 18th century.

Stroll the cobbled streets, visit the reconstructed homes and fortifications, and imagine life in a seaside stronghold once at the heart of colonial conflict. After your visit, relax on the return drive to Sydney, where the tour ends with drop-off at your hotel or a central location.

Pick-up times are confirmed 1–3 days before the tour. If you’re unable to check email or phone, please be ready in your hotel lobby at least 30 minutes before departure.
